Welcome to the Royal College of Veterinary Surgeons

Professional Development Record for vets

Access the RCVS Professional Development Record to record your CPD online.

The online Professional Development Record (the PDR) is being developed in three stages which will provide a lifelong learning record to be used by students to record their practical and clinical experience, by new graduates going through the Professional Development Phase (PDP), and by all other veterinary surgeons to record their CPD.

The CPD component of the online PDR is available to vets for recording CPD activities and events. This can be accessed from the links below. It has been designed to support the planning, timetabling and recording of events and activities which count towards the annual CPD requirements of all RCVS members.

The CPD section of the PDR contains a number of features to help vets maintain their CPD records. These include a CPD activity record page, a personal development plan for recording planned CPD, intended objectives and ways in which these will be implemented, reflective notes and comments on what has been learnt, as well as a diary for recording dates of forthcoming events and development activities.

Documents and other files such as photographs can be uploaded to support the CPD record and development plans, helping the user to keep all their relevant CPD documents in one place. The system is fully supported by online context sensitive help, as well as an e-learning help file on how to use the system.

Follow this link to register to use the PDR for the first time. You will need your 7-digit RCVS membership number to hand while you do this. Once you have registered, you will receive an email asking you to activate your registration. This will take you into the system and enable you to access your personal CPD record.

If you do not receive an email with your activation link, please check first in your email spam or junk mail folder. If the email has gone into your spam/junk folder, you will need to move it out again into your main inbox folder before you can activate the link.

If you still do not receive an activation email from the system within a day, please report this to us at and we will make arrangements to activate your account as soon as we can.

If you are already registered with the PDR, go to the login page and access your CPD record using your chosen username and password.

If you are a new graduate, you must first register to use the online Professional Development Phase section of the PDR. This will also give you access to the online CPD record. Visit the Professional Development Phase page for instructions on how to register for PDP.
