Legal Assessors for the RCVS Disciplinary Committee and Veterinary Nurses Disciplinary Committee

We are currently seeking enthusiastic and experienced individuals to sit with the Disciplinary Committee (DC) and the VN DC. Legal Assessors must be qualified as a solicitor, barrister or advocate in England and Wales, Scotland or Northern Ireland and have at least 10 years’ experience.

Main duties are to be present at proceedings before the DC and the VN DC, to advise on any questions of law, evidence, procedure or other matters relevant to hearings and to inform the Committee of any irregularity in the conduct of procedures. In addition, Legal Assessors are expected to keep up to date with developments in regulatory law and to participate in training sessions for members of the DC and VN DC.

We are looking to appoint three Legal Assessors, preferably with experience of sitting with or appearing before Disciplinary Committees or Tribunals in other professions.
