If you are considering standing for election to RCVS Council in 2017, you will need to read the following information carefully and download the relevant documents, including the formal election notice, and then complete and sign the necessary forms before posting them back to us.

The guidance notes explain the Election Scheme, timetable for nominations and voting period, what documentation is required, guidance about your Candidate Statement and rules about canvassing.
The nomination form requires your name, Register address and signature, together with those of your two nominators, and the date.
Candidate information form
The candidate information form needs to contain all the information that we will publish about you for the electorate to read. This includes your full name and contact details, a short biography (no more than 200 words) and a candidate statement (no more than 300 words).
In accordance with the provisions of the Veterinary Surgeons Act 1966, and the RCVS Council Election Scheme 1967 (as amended 2006), there will be an election for six RCVS members to serve on RCVS Council for a period of four years from the Annual General Meeting in July 2017.

Nominations must be submitted in writing on the prescribed form to the Registrar, duly completed on or before 5pm on 31 January 2017, along with an accompanying candidate biography (no longer than 200 words) and statement (no longer than 300 words) and photographs.
The nominations form and details about the form and content of statements from candidates are available from the Registrar.
Voting papers will subsequently be distributed to all Members* of the College week commencing Monday, 13 March 2017.
Each nomination form must bear the signatures and registered addresses of two proposers.
No proposer may nominate more than one candidate or be a member of RCVS Council.
*‘Members’ and ‘proposers’ must be members of the RCVS resident outside the Republic of Ireland (unless he/she has retained his/her right to vote in Council elections in accordance with the Veterinary Surgeons (Agreement with the Republic of Ireland) Order 1988).
