Bibliographic databases

The following databases provide access to abstracts and journal articles.

CAB Abstracts, VetMed Resource and PubMed can also be used to carry out literature searches and to search for work produced by a particular author or journal.

  • CAB Abstracts - Bibliographic database of five million records compiled by CABI. Comprehensive coverage of veterinary medicine, animal science, agriculture and aspects of human health. This is available to use in the library only.

  • VetMed Resource - VetMed Resouce is the world's largest bibliographic database on veterinary medicine. It provides veterinarians and others working in animal health with access to the Veterinary Science Database, review articles, news and the Animal Health & Production Compendium (AHPC).   • BioMed Central - The articles published by BioMed Central are available online and free of charge.

  • HighWire Press - HighWire Press offers over a million articles online free of charge.

  • PubMed - PubMed is a bibliographic database allowing you to carry out subject searches. This is a free resource, for quick search guidance (PDF 246KB)

  • Scirus - Scirus is a comprehensive science-specific search engine.

  • Image Data Base - Free images for non-commercial use.
