Register of Veterinary Practice Premises

Background

Registrations for the new RCVS Register of Veterinary Practice Premises will be accepted from 1 November 2008, allowing all those who wish to supply medicines from veterinary practice premises from 1 April 2009 onwards a full five months to comply with the latest medicines legislation.

The Register will enable the supply of veterinary medicines by veterinary surgeons, including controlled drugs, to be subjected to inspection and verification.

In discussion with the Veterinary Medicines Directorate, it was agreed that the most appropriate body to maintain this register would be the RCVS, not least because the College already manages the RCVS Practice Standards Scheme and publishes the (voluntary) Directory of Veterinary Practices, so has the necessary systems in place.

The register will be published on RCVSonline from 1 April 2009 and updated quarterly.

How to register

Information and application forms for premises registration have been sent to all practices currently listed in the RCVS Directory of Veterinary Practices and to all practices currently accredited (or awaiting accreditation) under the RCVS Practice Standards Scheme.

If you have not received either of these forms and wish to register a veterinary practice premises, please view 'How to register' for more details and an application form.
